Jr. Church - Intro to The book of Psalms/ Psalms 1

Welcome to summer Jr Church !!!

We are going to start reading through the book of Psalms and getting to know God as He is reveled in the Psalms. Each week we will look at a different Psalm and see what that Psalm teaches us about God and we then have an opportunity to praise God based on what we see in the Psalm.

Through the book of Psalms and the worship of the people of Israel, we get a glimpse into the character of God and how we should rightly respond to Him in worship. In Psalm 1 we see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked. Through this study, children will see that it’s only because of the blood of Jesus that anyone is made righteous.

Read Psalms 1

Then reread Psalm 1:5-6. Ask who “sinners/ wicked” are and who the “righteous” are. Read Romans 3:10-12 as a reminder that we are all sinners and we are all wicked. Remind kids that the only way to be counted as one of the righteous is through the blood of Jesus (Romans 3:22, Romans 4:5 & Romans 5:18). Make sure the children are clear that this righteous man that is referred to is not righteous because of anything He has done but only because of faith in Jesus.

Lord we love you thank you for this time to get to know you better, we pray that you will open our hearts as we read through the book of Pslams Amen

Have a fabulous week !!
