At Turner Christian Church we strive to provide ministries that will meet genuine needs of those in our church, community and beyond. We invite you to browse our ministry list. We hope that you find a ministry that is helpful to you.
Our nursery is located near the worship center and accommodates children ages birth through three years of age. The nursery is overseen by loving and capable volunteers who are coordinated by our Nursery Ministry Team, in association with our Christian Education Minister.
Our nursery offers a bright and safe environment and is well stocked with age appropriate toys.
We utilize a silent paging system that allows us to call a parent at any time should they be needed. In addition, each child is registered upon entrance into the nursery and is released only to the appropriate person.
Our drama team shares timeless Biblical principles using a contemporary format. Several "Drama Nights" are held each year, where a series of short plays and vignettes are presented. These plays are often humorous, but with a pointed message. Dramatic presentations, both serious and humorous, also are presented periodically in our worship services.
People of all ages may participate in our drama team. No formal audition is required. For more information, call Marcia Carter, Minister of Education, at (503) 743-2119.
Sunday School begins at 9:40 am each Sunday. Our Sunday School features classes for every age level, with four adult classes offered (young adult through senior citizens).
Every Wednesday evening is FFF (Family Faith and Fun). We gather for a simple meal at 5:00 pm. At 5:45 pm we have a brief time of singing in our sanctuary and then divide for age-appropriate activities. Treasure Seekers (kindergarten through 5th grade) and the youth groups (middle/high school) meet at this time, as well as two adult Bible study groups. The nursery is also open.
In addition, several adult oriented home Bible study groups meet throughout the course of the week in various venues. Please call the church office for locations and times. (503) 743-2119.
The church's Food Bank is open each Monday between the hours of 9:00 am and 11:30 am. We operate in partnership with the Marion-Polk Food Share, which provides many of the commodities that we distribute. Members of the church also regularly contribute a variety of food items. Special food baskets including fresh and frozen goods are distributed during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.
Recipients of items from our Food Bank do not need to attend our church.
The Food Bank does not distribute clothing, furniture, or household items, and is closed on holidays. For more information, call the church office, (503) 743-2119.
The good news of Jesus is too good not to share!
Locally, we put our faith into action by operating a food bank that is open every Monday morning from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.
We participate in establishing new churches in Oregon through OCEF Church Planters. Christian camping is supported through Wi-Ne-Ma Christian Camp, located on the Oregon Coast. We also are involved in the Oregon Christian Convention, which has been meeting in Turner since 1885.
Many of our members are also residents of Turner Retirement Homes (TRH), so we're pleased to support this benevolent institution on a regular basis. TRH offers a variety of living arrangements for seniors, including apartments, duplexes, manufactured homes, cottages and octaplexes.
We encourage Christian higher education through Emmanuel School of Religion (Johnson City, TN), and Osaka Bible Seminary (Osaka, Japan).
Turner Christian Church maintains three women's groups serving all ages. Our Young Women's group is a "self help" group that focuses on growing in their relationship with Christ. During the summer months they take a break from study and indulge in more social activities. Their meetings are held at the church at 6:30 pm on the 1st and 3rd Fridays each month. Their meetings always include refreshments and child care.
Our TLC group (Tender Loving Care) meets in various members' homes once a month on the 3rd Tuesday at 7:00 pm. They also engage in a discipleship study program and enjoy social activities. This is a group consisting primarily of career women who prefer evening activities. No child care is provided for this group.
Our senior ladies have a group that meets at the church once a month on the 3rd Thursday, at 2:00 pm. This group does a variety of things, including study, hosting guest speakers, and even taking an occasional field trip to places such as Oregon Gardens and the coast. This group is mainly made up of women of retirement age who enjoy fellowship in a small group.
The men's discussion group meets at 7am each Monday Morning in the church's fellowship hall.
The Turner Christan Church Youth Group has many exciting activities for young people in grades 6 through 12.
We meet each Wednesday night during the school year as part of the Family, Faith and Fun nights at the church. After the meal at 5 and a singing time at 5:45 the junior high and high school groups separate for
classes from 6 to 7 pm. We have a Bible based lesson, discussion time and a time to play games.
Throughout the year we have special events such as retreats, game nights, work projects and missions trips.
Our focus is on Jesus Christ and His Lordship in our lives. We seek to honor Him in all that we do.
If you would like more information please call Seth Morley at the church office (503) 743-2119.
Through our Sunday School program we offer classes for children of all ages.

Treasure Seekers is headed by Vicky Remy, with the assistance of a number of very active moms. They meet each Wednesday at 6:00 pm. This group generally does not meet regularly during the summer months, but does enjoy special events during this time. (We also serve a simple meal at 5:00 pm for everyone involved in Wednesday evening activities).
We place a high value on Christian camping, so our scholarship program makes it possible for children to attend one of our church-sponsored summer camps.
Little Lamb Christian Preschool is a ministry of Turner Christian Church. It operates under the oversight of a preschool board, which is chaired by our Minister of Christian Education, Marcia Carter. Mission Statement
Our mission statement summarizes our longing to be faithful in accomplishing God's call to us as a church.
Turner Christian Church exists to bring people to Jesus and membership in his family, develop them to Christ-like maturity, and equip them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world, in order to magnify God's name.
Our ultimate goal is to magnify God's name. We believe God is honored when people grow in their faith and engage in a form of ministry appropriate for them. Since the church is Christ's body, membership in a local church congregation is the framework in which we serve the Lord.
Identifying With Us
Becoming a member of our church involves the same steps as becoming a Christian - faith in Christ, repentance from sin, a confession of your faith, and baptism (immersion).
People who have already made such a commitment to Christ elsewhere may unite with us by a reaffirmation of their faith and/or transfer of their membership. In either case, during each worship service we offer an invitation for people to identify with Christ and his church.
To those who come forward, we ask the question based on Matthew 16:16, "Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and your Lord and Savior?" We want you to be a part of our church family! Won't you consider joining us as we serve the Lord together?
Turner Christian Church is a part of God's Kingdom which stretches around the world. We support many missions both locally and internationally.
