Church Treasurer (1/4 time, days flexible)

Reports To: Senior Minister
Overview:
Turner Christian Church is seeking a trustworthy, detail-oriented individual to serve as our quarter-time Church Treasurer. This position is responsible for managing church expenditures and financial records, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, and compliance with relevant regulations. The Treasurer works closely with the church leadership to ensure sound financial practices that support the church’s mission and ministries.

Turner Christian Church is seeking a trustworthy, detail-oriented individual to serve as our quarter-time Church Treasurer. This position is responsible for managing church expenditures and financial records, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, and compliance with relevant regulations. The Treasurer works closely with the church leadership to ensure sound financial practices that support the church’s mission and ministries.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Process and record church expenses
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for the church board
- Assist in budget preparation and provide financial analysis as needed
- Ensure timely payment of obligations (e.g., payroll, utilities, vendors)
- Oversee compliance with applicable tax and nonprofit financial regulations
- Coordinate with outside accountants or auditors as needed
- Meet regularly with senior minister and finance team to provide financial updates
Qualifications:
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or nonprofit finance
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-experts
- Alignment with the values and mission of Turner Christian Church
Preferred:
- Prior experience as a church treasurer or in a similar nonprofit role
- Knowledge of church financial practices and requirements
