Elihu is This Guy?

In Job 32, a new character enters the story: a hothead named Elihu who thinks he can set everyone straight. Elihu tells Job not to bother waiting for God, because he's already gotten the only answers God will give him. Elihu wants Job to turn to doctrine instead of waiting for God. The temptation to let doctrine become a replacement for God is strong, and Elihu's story helps to highlight the damage it can do--and the comfort that we can find if we refuse to accept substitutes for God.
